Following his match-winning performance for England in their recent Test match against New Zealand at Lord's batter Harry Brook has once again returned to the pinnacle of the ICC Men's Test Batter Rankings. Brook who had ceded the No. 1 position to his England teammate Joe Root after a tough performance against India earlier this year reclaimeds his spot as the world's best Test batter following England's 115 run victory over New Zealand in the first match of their ICC World Test Championship series. Harry Brook Overtakes Joe Root In Test Rankings Brook was one of only two players in either side that managed to reach a half-century during England's comprehensive win against New Zealand and his valuable innings of 56 during a match in which scoring was hard achieved much help in setting up England's total that eventually secured the victory. Joe Root managed totals of just one and eight and has fallen back into third place behind Australia batter Travis Head who is up to second in the latest rankings update. There have been other notable movers within the Test batting rankings none more so than India batter Shubman Gill who climbs up two places in the rankings to number eight following his century in their Test win against Afghanistan. Ben Duckett, meanwhile, climbs three places into number 15 in the rankings thanks to his fifty in the opening Test against New Zealand with Jamie Smith climbing six places into equal 23rd in the Test batter rankings. The pacer had a productive Test and now sits in 10th place with a new career high. Atkinson also improved two places within the Test all-rounder rankings up to 6th in the world. Kyle Jamieson and Ollie Robinson both re-enter the Test bowling rankings following their return to red ball cricket with Jamieson coming in at number 22 and Robinson at number 23 in the rankings. Nathan Smith gains 16 places for New Zealand and he is now in at number 43 in the latest rankings update. Across in the white ball ranks Abrar Ahmed was another major beneficiary of recent strong performances his 6 wickets across a series win against Australia helped him climb two places and he now holds the number two spot in the ODI bowler rankings. Shaheen Afridi also had an encouraging limited overs series against Australia and he moves up four places into number nine with 7 wickets to his name across the series. Australia's Nathan Ellis also had a solid series, picking up the same number of wickets as Shaheen with his seven wickets in the three matches moving 13 places up into 31st in the ODI bowling rankings. Bangladeshi pacer Nahid Rana has enjoyed his best few ODIs and has picked up 23 places to go up into number 24 following his 3/42 spell against Australia in the first of three ODIs. Within the ODI batter rankings Kusal Mendis moved up four places into equal 12th in the batting rankings. Janith Liyanage climbs six places to sit in 22nd in the latest update to the ODI batter rankings while Tanzid Hasan picked up 7 places to climb into 33rd in the latest rankings update to the ODI batting rankings.
