Jemimah Rodrigues hammered her second One-Day International century in India's match against South Africa Women on Wednesday, May 7, in the Women's Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025. The match was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on a gloomy morning. Having lost initial wickets of Pratika Rawal (1), Harleen Deol (4), and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (28) in the first seven overs, India were struggling. Jemimah Rodrigues came out to bat and formed a partnership with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana to steady the ship. Jemimah hit her century off 89 balls and provided the much-needed boost that India needed. This was the third-fastest century by an India Women player in this format. ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ฟ! ๐ฏJemimah Rodrigues notches her Second ODI Century! ๐A sublime knock this from the #TeamIndia batter ๐๐Updates โถ๏ธ https://t.co/V5htnun1j2#WomensTriNationSeries2025 | #INDvSA | @JemiRodrigues pic.twitter.com/qhZhGTMuib — BCCI Women (@BCCIWomen) May 7, 2025 Also Read | Will KKR vs CSK Be Delayed Due to Operation Sindoor? Strong Partnerships Lift India Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 88 runs to the scoreboard before Smriti got caught at deep mid-wicket after a composed fifty. Her innings of 51 runs comprised of six fours. After getting out, Deepti Sharma came out and partnered with Jemimah, and together they formed a strong 122-run stand. Jemimah scored 123 runs in 101 deliveries, including 15 fours and one six. She was dismissed in the 43rd over when she got caught by Sune Luus at point off Masabata Klaas. Deepti Sharma then took the charge and carried on the excellent work. She scored 93 runs off 84 balls, with 10 boundaries and two sixes. Though she fell short of a century by just seven runs, her innings helped India to finish on a high note. India completed their innings at 337 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. South Africa now requires 338 runs to win this match. If India succeeds in defending the score, they will reach the final of the Tri-Nation series and play Sri Lanka on Sunday, May 11, at the same venue. South Africa Women, on the other hand, have lost both the matches so far, and if they lose this one too, they will be left with just one match in hand. However, the result of that match won't make any change to their fortune if they fail to win this against India.
