The secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah, recently came out and answered several questions regarding the upcoming projects of the board. One of the biggest things that the Indian men's team would be looking forward to is their upcoming multi-format series against Bangladesh. Both teams will play two Test matches and three T20Is. The first Test starts on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and ahead of the series, Jay Shah took center stage to express how vital the Bangladesh series is to the BCCI. Jay Shah further revealed that he himself has not spoken to the new authorities in-charge in Bangladesh, and if they do not contact the BCCI, then they themselves will get in touch with him. During an interaction with the Times Group journalists at the TOI's Mumbai office, Shah said: "We've not spoken to them (the Bangladesh authorities). A new government has taken charge there. They might reach out to us or else I will reach out to them. The Bangladesh series is very important to us." Furthermore, Jay Shah was asked whether the possibility of India hosting the Women's T20 World Cup existed. As one may know, the marquee event is set to start on October 3, and Bangladesh is expected to host the proceedings. However, given the political turmoil in that country, the possibility of India hosting the tournament might well turn out to be the case. On the same, Shah denied any kind of interest in wanting to host the event. He explained the reason behind this was he did not want to give the impression that he wanted to host back-to-back World Cups as India was going to host the Women's ODI World Cup in 2025. Jay Shah said that: "They (ICC) have asked us if we would conduct the World Cup. I have categorically said no, we're in the monsoon, and on top of that we will host the women's ODI World Cup next year. I don't want to give any kind of signals that I want to hold consecutive World Cups." Also Read | The WPL Effect: How It’s Redefining Women’s Cricket
