The Indian speedstar Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be the vice captain of India in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The tournament is making a comeback after 8 years and is scheduled from February 19 to March 9. While most of the matches are scheduled in Pakistan, India will play in Dubai. Rohit Sharma, who had announced his retirement from the T20Is, is supposed to continue his run in the ODIs. However, certain reports have previously suggested that Hardik Pandya may replace Rohit Sharma as the ODI captain, considering the former's excellence. Presently, a Times of India report suggested that Bumrah is the frontrunner to get the cap of vice captain in the tournament, considering his leadership skills and form in the recently completed Border Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah earlier assisted KL Rahul in the ODI series against South Africa in 2022. Not only that, he led India in 2023, against Ireland, in the T20 Series. 2025 Champions Trophy Chaos The tournament got back its life from the door of chaos regarding geopolitical issues between two neighbors—India and Pakistan. India had disagreed to travel to Pakistan, citing security concerns, which the Pakistan Cricket Board denied. However, the matches involving India will only be played in Dubai. And Pakistan also clarified that they won't tour India for any ICC tournaments and will voice for neutral venues, to which the ICC agreed.
