Is Jasprit Bumrah's presence affecting India? There have been a lot of murmurs going on. While many are dismissing Jasprit Bumrah's workload and asking him to play the remaining two Tests, some are saying it's better if he doesn't play. Whether it is superstition or not is not known, but from the ongoing five-match Test series against England, India lost the two Tests he played and won the one in which he didn't. There have been sayings that the captains go gaga when Bumrah is around. There is a taste of overdependency on him, that the captain can't use their other bowlers properly. If seen the examples, Bumrah got five wickets in Leeds' first innings while going wicketless in the second. The supports he got from his fellow pacers were pretty expensive. Come to Edgbaston; Bumrah was rested. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep ran rollercoasters for the English batters on a so-called flat pitch, not just breaking personal records. Again at Lord's, a déjà vu happened. Bumrah got 7 wickets from both innings. Washington did give support with 4 wickets but alas! Both innings had other similarities too, dropped catches and piles of extra runs, but the question somehow shifts towards Bumrah: is India overbelieving in "Jassi Bhai?" Strikingly, the away record improves significantly without him (55.5%), even though he is widely considered India’s ace pacer in foreign conditions. Despite the records, it's still debatable if it is Jasprit Bumrah or his men around him is the main reason for the dip. Despite all, he continues to deliver quality spells, but the over-reliance on him, visible in captaincy choices and bowling strategies, might be unsettling team balance. Notably, India will play the fourth Test on July 23 to 27, at Manchester, and Jasprit Bumrah is likely to play in the Test.
