New Zealand shockingly created history by breaking the 12-year-long series-winning momentum of the Indian team when they defeated them on the third day of the Pune Test. Team India crumbled not once, but three times in these two Test matches. Indian players have been going through rough patches overall, especially their specialist bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has been grinding continuously in the home season without a break. Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has voiced his support for Jasprit Bumrah by saying the pacer needs a rest and should be rested for the final Test match, which is scheduled to be played in Mumbai, starting from November 1. PCB Drops Fakhar Zaman From Pakistan’s Central Contract For Supporting Babar Azam Karthik recommended bringing Mohammed Siraj back into the playing XI to replace Bumrah for the third Test against New Zealand. In a conversation with Cricbuzz, Karthik said: “Jasprit Bumrah definitely needs a rest, without a doubt. That is happening, and you will see Mohammed Siraj come in. I can’t think of any other change unless someone has a niggle. I don’t see any reason why the batters who played this game or the bowlers should not get an opportunity.” Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t quite found his rhythm in the series against New Zealand yet, managing just three wickets across two matches with an average of 42.33. New Zealand has already clinched the series; they will be going all out in the last Test match against the hosts, with crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points still on the line. India may remain at the top of the WTC standings, but their percentage points have taken a dip following back-to-back losses against Tom Latham’s side. If India loses the final Test to the Kiwis, then it will become difficult for them to qualify for the WTC 2023-25 final this time.
