The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is a hotly contested battle between two of the biggest rivals in international cricket. Also, some on-field confrontations have featured in the 2024-25 edition, which has seen some of the best players in the world. At the Sydney Test, Jasprit Bumrah, India's top fast bowler, was seen having a heated argument with 19-year-old opener Sam Konstas at the very end of the play on Day 1. Konstas, who was standing at the non-striker's end, goaded the usually calm and composed Bumrah. He became annoyed and lost his cool. Thereafter, Bumrah went on to dismiss Khawaja and celebrated right in front of Konstas. Bumrah recently sat down for an interview and described how he channeled his aggression as a fast bowler. Here is what Bumrah said to Forbes India ' “I am aggressive; it’s just that I don’t need to go and abuse the batsman, because when I was a kid, I saw the bowlers on the television screaming and shouting and going head-to-head. When I tried it, I became too aggressive; when I tried to play in club cricket, it didn’t work in my favor," “When I realized that I go overboard, to control that I consciously worked on it. When I’m nice and calm and relaxed, people don’t know what’s going on in my head, so that gives me a mental advantage. That helps me to stay calm and make better decisions," he added. Bumrah answered with a stiff reply that indeed it happens in the game, but still he avoids abusive words and added that it is pretty easy for him to begin the on-field war but does that consciously, and he never did. “I obviously won’t lie; it happens. But I don’t start it (sledge), But when it comes my way, I don’t back down as well, because that is how I started playing. It is very easy for me to start that battle, but I don’t do it consciously because I want to be in my zone or my moment," Bumrah added.
