The talismanic Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Tournament when India won the T20 World Cup a year ago. In the current Asia Cup, he has been overpowered occasionally by India's spin-bowling trio, despite his good bowling. Until now in the Asia Cup, Bumrah has taken five wickets in four games at a rate of 22. With the exception of the Super Four match against Pakistan, for which he gave away 45 runs from four overs without getting a wicket, Bumrah has been flawless. Nonetheless, his fans are worried about his fitness, particularly since he elected to play only three of the five Tests against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy to keep his work load in check. Ex-Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif tweeted on Thursday, 25 September, pointing out that Bumrah was utilized in various phases of the innings by Rohit Sharma. Kaif stated that Bumrah didn't bowl two consecutive overs under Rohit's captaincy. Cricketer-turned-analyst pointed out that the Gujarat seamer these days bowls only after his body is properly warmed up, and he does so because he doesn't want to get injured. Under Surya, in Asia cup, he bowled a three-overs spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days, prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. 1 over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters, against stronger teams at World Cup, this could hurt india," However, Bumrah replied to this tweet a few hours later and wrote: "Inaccurate before inaccurate again". Bumrah is likely to be given a rest for India's inconsequential match against Sri Lanka on Friday, September 26. He will be instrumental in the final on Sunday against the survivor of the virtual semi-final encounter between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday.
