Jasprit Bumrah visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for crucial fitness clearance ahead of the IPL. The Mumbai Indians' pace spearhead, who had previously reported discomfort during his last visit, is back under expert supervision. His assessment will determine whether he can participate in the tournament from the outset or needs additional recovery time. This marks Bumrah’s second trip to the NCA in recent weeks. Earlier, he experienced mild pain while bowling, prompting the medical staff to prescribe a customized rehabilitation plan. Now, the ace pacer has returned for a comprehensive evaluation, hoping for a green signal to take the field. A positive outcome will boost the Mumbai Indians’ chances, but a delayed clearance could see him miss the initial fixtures. If he completes his bowling drills without discomfort, the medical team is likely to approve his participation. However, given his history of injuries, a conservative approach may be adopted, ruling him out of MI’s first few matches. Mumbai Indians’ head coach Mahela Jayawardene sounded optimistic while addressing the situation in the pre tournament press conference. He said, “He just started that progress. We have to wait and see what their feedback is on him. At the moment, everything is going well but obviously, it is on a day-to-day basis, the progress. He is in good spirits and hopefully, he can join the team sooner. Obviously, not having him is a challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world and he has been a fantastic pro for us for many years." The absence of Bumrah would be a huge blow for MI, who rely heavily on his death-over brilliance. However, the franchise is prepared to manage his workload, ensuring he returns fully fit rather than risking a relapse.
