On Day 5 of the third Test between India and England at Lord's, Jasprit Bumrah proved once again that he's not just a bowler. India was in trouble while chasing 193 to win when Bumrah went out to bat after Nitish Kumar Reddy was dismissed for 13. India was 112/8 in 39.3 overs. Bumrah came in to join Ravindra Jadeja in the middle and enabled India to weather the challenging English bowling. Both played patiently in the post-lunch session, keeping alive India's faint hopes. Jadeja was scoring at one end, while Bumrah was rock-solid at the other, protecting the runs. Bumrah didn’t score much, but his calm batting stood out. He finally lost patience late in the second session and went for a big shot. The ball went straight to substitute fielder James Cook, and Bumrah was dismissed for 5 off 54 balls. Shastri scored 19 off 54 deliveries in a 1981 Test against New Zealand in Wellington. Bumrah is now only the second Indian No. 10 to survive at least 50 balls in the fourth innings of a Test match in SENA nations. Earlier in the same Test, Bumrah had bagged five wickets in the first innings of England. He had been rested for the second Test, which India had won convincingly. Bumrah's statistics were 5/74, and the performance gained him a place on the Lord's Honours Board. He now has 13 five-wicket hauls in overseas Tests with this five-wicket haul, surpassing Kapil Dev's (12) record. In total, Bumrah has bagged 15 five-wicket hauls in 47 Test matches and has taken 217 wickets at a mean of 19.49.
