India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his participation in the 2025 Asia Cup. A senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official revealed that the bowler has communicated his readiness to the selection committee. The tournament will be played in the T20 format in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The selection panel, headed by Ajit Agarkar, meets on August 19 in Mumbai to finalize a 15-member squad. A BCCI source told The Indian Express, “Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week.” Bumrah was excluded from the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the Oval to manage workload. He featured in three Tests in England, collecting two five-wicket hauls across four appearances and delivering 119.4 overs. His participation in the Asia Cup provides India with a key advantage in the bowling department ahead of a demanding season. Bumrah will have close to 40 days of rest between his last Test and the start of the tournament, which is expected to aid recovery. The Indian team, according to BCCI sources, will travel early to the UAE. The plan to hold a preparatory camp in Bengaluru was shelved after management suggested acclimatization in match conditions. The soruce added, “Instead of having a camp here, the team will fly three-four days early so that they can get decent practice before the tournament starts." The early travel plan aims to ensure players adjust to the Gulf weather before the opener against UAE.
