Former Australian speedster Jason Gillespie believes Australia would win over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India would tour Australia for a five-match Test series from November 22. The Indian team has been on a winning spree, with its strong record that started gaining prominence since 2017 and has also seen the last four series wins. They even defeated Australia two consecutive times in their home country in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 series. Thus, Australia is ready to win this time. Gillespie opined that some of Australia's best fast bowlers are Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and off-spinner Nathan Lyon, which would be an excellent support this time for their team. To Fox Sports, Gillespie said: "I will be backing them to do the job. They are the best bowlers in the country. I think their records speak for themselves. This quartet is the best possible bowling attack that Australia can put out in the park." Gillespie also commented that India is an in-form side at present, but he thinks Australia can stop this winning sequence. Before their series against Australia, India will host Bangladesh and New Zealand. On the other hand, Australia have to face England and Pakistan, for which some of their key performers will be rested for those encounters since they are playing short format matches. He said: "They are red-hot, they are playing some good test cricket for a while now. Even though they have beaten Australia in recent times. I think Australia have a chance to beat India this time around." Both India and Australia are also very good teams in the running World Test Championship. Currently, India is at the top scoring 68.52% points after six win out of nine matches played. Australia is still at the second rank by scoring 62.50% points after eight win out of twelve matches played. This two teams faced each other in WTC 2023 final where Australia won against India by 209 runs. Now, a hopeful team of Indians under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is looking at achieving the third straight win for them on Australian soil.
