England and India are now gearing up to face each other in the three-match ODI series. India completely dominated the T20I series where they registered a series with a 4-1 margin with the help of phenomenal performances from Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy throughout the series. The first ODI match is scheduled to be played in Nagpur on February 6 but ahead of the match, the visitors have been dealt with a piece of disappointing news. Their wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith, who made his debut in the second T20I, complained about a calf issue in the next match and was taken back to the dressing room. He then didn’t play the rest two matches of the series and is now doubtful for the first two ODI matches against India. As per the reports, he will be undergoing a fitness test next Wednesday. This might be concerning for the visitors but they won’t be much focussed on this issue as the team already has two wicket-keepers as the option, Jos Buttler himself and Philip Salt as the other one. The first ODI will commence on February 6 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The ODI series will be crucial for both teams from the point of preparation for the Champions Trophy which is set to commence from February 19, this month. England last played their ODI series against West Indies in November last year, they will shift their focus from the T20I series loss and will look forward to putting up a challenging fight in the series.
