Jake Fraser-McGurk, the young Australian batter, has become the news for a reason that no player would want. During the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, the DC opener has accumulated only 55 runs in 6 games with an average of 9.17 and a strike rate of 105.76. This places him on a list of opening batters with the least runs in an IPL season after first six 6 innings. Jake joins the likes of Robin Uthappa, Murali Vijay, and Brendon McCullum who also endured subpar performances in some or the other seasons in the past. Uthappa amassed only 44 runs in 2009 after first six innings with a mere 7.33 per match average. Vijay and McCullum both scored 45 runs each in 2012 and 2009, with an average of 7.50 per match. Even Prithvi Shaw, who played for Delhi Capitals in 2023, managed to score only 47 runs at an average of 7.83. Parthiv Patel features twice on the list; once in 2009 with 49 runs and once in 2012 with 63 runs. Even the IPL winning captain Adam Gilchrist had a poor season in 2013, scoring only 61 runs. Fans and franchise had great expectations, but he was unable to make the impact that was anticipated by everyone. Young as he is, Jake Fraser-McGurk has time to learn and come back stronger in remaining matches of the seasons. For the time being, however, he tops a list no one wants to be at the top of.
