India and England are engaged in the third Test match of the series at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground, starting from July 10. Opting to bat first for England favoured them on day 1, making them reach a safe score and still on their way to reach a mammoth total in their first innings. It was Joe Root and Ben Stokes’ day, who are still unbeaten on 99 and 39 respectively. The English skipper suffered a groin injury on the opening day. The 34-year-old batter received treatments on the field, but he showed a tremendous display of resilience, continued batting till the end of the day’s gameplay and formed an unbeaten partnership of 79 runs for the fifth wicket. Meanwhile, the vice-captain of the England team, Ollie Pope, has revealed that the team management would check the fitness of Ben Stokes, but it has been reported that the injury is not too serious. The management will take precautions and manage his fitness well in the ongoing Test match. As quoted by NDTV Sports, Pope said: "Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious and he can do something magic and come back strong. We'll see how he pulls up tomorrow (Friday).” He further added that: "We've got a big Test over the next four days and we've got a big two coming up after that so it's important to try and manage him. That's one of my roles, to make sure he doesn't push himself to a ridiculous place with whatever he's dealing with at the moment. I'm sure the physios and medics will work with him to lay out a plan and I'll help push him in the right direction." Stokes has a history of multiple injuries in his past, including two hamstring injuries that he has suffered in the last eight months. England is in a commanding position, and Stokes’ contributions will play a major role in England’s success in this Test match. But if he remains unavailable for bowling, then it might cause a concern for the English team.
