MS Dhoni, even at 43, continues to impress everyone with his wicketkeeping skills. In the IPL 2025 opener, Dhoni pulled off a lightning-fast stumping which left many jaw-dropped. Several former cricketers have even mentioned that Dhoni is still the best wicket-keeper in the IPL. However, Dhoni feels that he is more of a safe keeper and is nothing extraordinary. Speaking on the 'MS Dhoni Experience' show on JioHotstar, Dhoni opened up about his wicketkeeping. In the show, he was shown a clip from last season, where he took a diving catch against Gujarat Titans. The clip went viral on social media last year, where many praised Dhoni's skills. However, Dhoni called that catch a fluke. "It's a fluke. If you closely monitor it, it feels like a sack of rice falling from the back of a truck. I've always been a fan of trying to take catches with two hands, and it helps. So it always feels good if you can contribute like this. But I'm not somebody who you would see dive around a lot or to take those. I'm quite a safekeeper. I like to keep it that," said Dhoni. 'I'm useless on the field' MS Dhoni also jokingly admitted that he is 'useless' on the field and has to keep wickets every time. He also called keeping 'a challenge'. "It's a challenge, you know, and that's what makes it interesting and also the fact that if I'm not wicketkeeping, I think I'm useless on the field", he said. He further added that staying behind the stumps helps him read the game better in terms of understanding how the wicket behaves. "Because that's [keeping] where I read the game in the best possible manner. I have to be really close to the game, for the angles, to see how the bowler is bowling, how the wicket is behaving", he said. "When I'm right behind the stump, I'm in a better position to judge what really is happening and then to convey to the captain as to this is what is happening, whether it's a bad delivery that has gone for a 6 or it's a good delivery that the batsman has hit for a 6. I can differentiate between the two when I'm behind the stumps," said Dhoni. After a four-wicket win against Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings will be in action on March 28, where they will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
