Since hitting his first century in the IPL on March 23, Ishan Kishan has seen his form nosedive; his scores after that have been 0, 2, 2, 17, 9*, 2, 1, 44, 13, and 35. Kishan started well for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but could not carry the momentum forward, getting four runs off three matches. In a way, that was a challenging period for the explosive left-hander. Now, after two months of an inconsistent show, Kishan seems to finally be turning the corner. He recently recorded a couple of 30-plus scores but looked off in terms of timing. However, versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), he looked back with some flashes. Some regular wickets fell, and Kishan stayed firm, holding the innings together. Abhishek Sharma and Aniket Verma entertained the crowd with aggressive batting. But the real savior for SRH was their captain Kishan. Had he not taken early guard, the innings could have crumbled. He was quick, too—fifty in 28 balls. His aggressive attitude only grew stronger as he went on to score 94 runs from just 48 balls, helping Hyderabad post a gigantic target of 232. Kishan or the Indian team announced his departure for England around 25-26th for the India A tour. More than a year without being in the Test squad, maybe now he has got a chance of going for the Test after these practice games against the England Lions. Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel may pay more attention to Tests, but Kishan still has a strong case. He might be able to jump ahead of Jurel as the main backup, if not the first choice. Even though it also might not help him for a red-ball job, at least these are known runs rather than no runs at all.
