If not Jasprit Bumrah's bowling performances, his injury concerns are making big headlines these days. And why not? His body has undergone as many as injuries in his career. Even though it is not uncommon for a fast bowler, his bowling action has made him much more susceptible to injuries. However, when there are talks going on to not play Jasprit Bumrah in all five Tests against England, former NCA head physiotherapist Ashish Kaushik says that Jasprit Bumrah might be underbowled according to his capacity. Kaushik has been working with Bumrah and played a key role in Bumrah's recovery in 2019 when he suffered a stress fracture. Speaking to SportsBoom.com, Kaushik shared a bit tricky yet complex recovery of fast bowlers. Kaushik said, “There is an acute to chronic workload ratio for every player. Going above or below that threshold increases injury risk. Workload includes bowling, fielding, training — not just match play.” Read also: Dravid Reacts to Bengaluru Tragedy; Sosale Denied Relief Kaushik added: "As much as you can be over-bowled, you can be under-bowled too. Bodies must stay in the ‘safe zone’—conditioned to the level expected in match intensity. Sleep, nutrition, and emotional recovery are essential. They keep players fresh and reduce injury risks. Bowlers need strength to last multiple spells. That only comes from enough ground time and conditioning.” Previously, in an interview with RevSports, former bowling coach of India, Bharat Arun, stated that Bumrah can play all five Tests, given his workload is managed in the nets. Former MI coach Shane Bond warned that Bumrah can't risk another stress injury in the same area, and that might eventually carve out his playing possibilities in the future. Notably, Bumrah is touring with the Indian team to England. However, coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that he will play just three Tests. But which three, will be decided based on the situation and development of the series. India will play the first Test of the series on June 20, at Headingley, Leeds.
