Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan will be absent from the commentary panel during IPL 2025. The broadcasters reportedly kept him out as they were troubled by his comments on air as well as social media. Ever since he quit cricket, Pathan has become a regular presence in the commentary box during IPL. But his voice was nowhere to be found during the initial match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday. As per a Times of India report, Pathan was dropped based on grievances against his comments, which were determined to be driven by personal conflicts. according to the reports, the broadcasters were not happy with him bringing in personal grudges on-air and even on his social media handle. A BCCI official said: "Pathan had a fallout with a couple of players a few years ago. Since then, he has not shied away from referring to them aggressively. The matter was raised that other junior players got caught in the crossfire. He intends to provide match analysis and insights using this platform. Not the First Commentator to Be Dropped Irfan is not the first prominent commentator to be taken off the panel. Sanjay Manjrekar was left out in 2020 following the on-field spat he had with Ravindra Jadeja during the 2019 ODI World Cup, with his "bits and pieces" remark drawing huge criticism. As far back as 2016, Harsha Bhogle was also excluded from the IPL commentary panel. He had said he did not know why he was left out.
