Ireland has named a 14-member team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan. Ireland will be led by Gaby Lewis, who will be supported by Orla Prendergast as her deputy. The series is an important preparation for Ireland before they play in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, where they will be eyeing qualification for next year's showpiece event. The opening game of the three-game T20I series will be played on August 6 at Clontarf Cricket Club, Dublin. Pakistan will be captained by Fatima Sana in the three-match T20I series. The team is boosted by the comeback of off-spinner Freya Sargent, who is returning after recovering from an injury. Spinner Lara McBride keeps her place in the team after a standout debut series against Zimbabwe. Here is what National Women’s Selector Ciara O’Brien said after successful series against Zimbabwe “After a strong 5–0 series win against Zimbabwe Women across formats under new Head Coach Lloyd Tennant, it’s great to be able to move so quickly into what will understandably be a much tougher assignment against Pakistan Women in Clontarf for this T20I series,” “With the upcoming matches, our preparation continues for the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands in a few weeks, so we’re looking to see this latest momentum continued by the squad at Clontarf,” she added.
