Vidarbha require eight wickets on Day 5 to claim their third Irani Cup title. Even a draw will suffice for them to claim the prized trophy as they possess a first-innings advantage. Rest of India, on the other hand, require another 331 runs on a deteriorating surface. Day 4 started with Vidarbha at 93/2, with a lead of 221 runs. Anshul Kamboj opened the day with a great spell, taking one wicket in each of his first three overs. Harsh Dubey carved out a tough 39-run partnership with captain Akshay Wadkar to keep the ship afloat. The Parth Rekhade-Wadkar stand did not produce too many runs, but they did tire out the opposition bowlers by enduring 55 balls. Darshan Nalkande and Wadkar contributed a 35-run partnership off 95 balls. After the latter was sent packing for 36 by Kamboj, Nalkande contributed 17 and 25 runs with the last two wickets, respectively. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Aryan Juyal batted with Rest of India in pursuit of a 351-run target in the fourth innings. Aditya Thakare provided Vidarbha's initial breakthrough by sending Juyal back to the hut. Easwaran scored three boundaries in his innings of 17 off 18 balls. But he could not capitalize on his start and was caught by Harsh Dubey. Ishan Kishan and Rajat Patidar struggled hard in the latter part of the day before rain interrupted play. The umpires ruled out any further play. Kishan and Patidar will be picked up from overnight scores of 5 and 2, respectively. These two veteran batters will need to raise their game on Day 5 and create a big partnership to enable Rest of India to create hopes of an unlikely victory.
