Vidarbha defeated Rest of India by 93 runs on Sunday, October 5, on Day 5 of the final to claim their third Irani Cup title at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Rest of India began the day on 20/2, with Rajat Patidar and Ishan Kishan at the crease. They had still to score 331 runs for victory in the match. Aditya Thakare got rid of Patidar in the fifth over of the day. Rest of India captain could manage only 10 off 32 balls. Six overs down, Darshan Nalkande was responsible for the fall of Ruturaj Gaikwad's wicket. Kishan struck two boundaries from Nalkande's next over. But Harsh Dubey ended his innings at the crease in the subsequent over. Kishan's gritty performance saw him making 35 from 65 balls. Though it proved insufficient for Rest of India. Saransh Jain and Yash Dhull had counter-attacking innings and accumulated 53 out of 66 balls. Manav Suthar came to accompany Dhull at the wicket after Saransh got dismissed for 29. They built a 104-run partnership off just 152 balls. Delhi batter got dismissed eight runs short of his century. In 117 balls, he hit 92 runs with eight fours and a single six. Rest of India scored 267 in 73.5 overs. It was wonderful to see the side under Patidar fighting hard as they had their backs against the wall. But they got too far behind in the first innings and were in the eight-ball ever since. Harsh Dubey was the bowlers' choice for Vidarbha. He took four wickets, conceding only 73 runs in 27.5 overs. Thakare and Yash Thakur contributed two wickets each. Parth Rekhade and Nalkande each took a wicket. Atharva Taide took the Player of the Match for his 143 off 183 balls, including 15 fours and one six. His innings set the tone for Vidarbha's victory.
