The governing council of the Indian Premier League will sit at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru on September 28 to finalize the retention policy for the IPL 2025 season. The officials met the owners of IPL on July 31 over the possible options, where franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad stated that they oppose the idea of mega-auction. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants stated that they were not averse to the idea of the postponement of the mega-auction. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, were in favor of the mega-auction, and as things stand, BCCI officials are to keep things the way they are. They are likely to allow each team to retain five players—three Indians and two foreigners. However, that will be subject to change, going by what the office bearers decide in their meeting in Bengaluru.
