The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will finalise a new lead sponsor for Team India jersey following the exit of Dream11. The alteration follows the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which prohibits real-money gaming and advertising thereof. Dream11, which inked a Rs 358-crore deal in July 2023 to succeed Byju's, was compelled to terminate its agreement almost a year ahead of time. The law compelled the company to withdraw as it has a direct bearing on its core business. New Sponsorship Procedure Underway IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the procedure for a new sponsor has already begun. At PlayCom 2025 summit, Dhumal said: "What is done is done. We have started the process of finalising the sponsors and will get to know about it in the next 2–3 weeks." The BCCI had issued an Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI) last month, with September 12 being the cut-off date for buying the documents and September 16 being the deadline for bids. This will encompass approximately 140 games, comprising bilateral series and ICC/ACC tournaments. As per reports, the board is seeking waiver of Rs 3.5 crore for each bilateral match and Rs 1.5 crore for each ICC/ACC fixture. This is more than Dream11's deal of Rs 3 crore for each bilateral and Rs 1 crore for each ICC/ACC match but less than Rs 5.07 crore for each bilateral match as paid by Byju's in its previous deal. The estimated revenue from the new contract is: Rs 131 crore in 2025-26 Rs 162.5 crore in 2026-27 Rs 158.5 crore in 2027-28 Timeline Before Big Tournaments The BCCI would prefer the new sponsor to be in place before two big events: the Women's ODI World Cup from September 30 and India's Test series against the West Indies from October 2. Dhumal stated: "I think what is done is done (on Dream11’s exit). I would not like to talk about that. But we have started the ball rolling as far as the next sponsor is concerned. I am sure within 2–3 weeks we will get to know that." Also Read | BCCI Establishes New Base Price for Jersey Sponsorship What's Next for the BCCI?
