With just 9 days to go, Rajasthan Royals has been hit with an injury blow. Their recently acquired pacer Sam Curran will miss the entire 2026 season of the Indian Premier League. The England pacer is suspected to suffer from a groin issue. The proceeding has been confirmed on March 19. Well, Rajasthan Royals is yet to announce a replacement for his position soon. Speaking about Sam Curran, the 27-year-old pacer was supposed to join RR as his third team in the IPL. RR got him through the trade window along with allrounder Ravindra Jadeja from the Chennai Super Kings. In exchange, RR gave away their former captain, Sanju Samson. Notably, Sam Curran, before the IPL, was representing the England men's cricket team, who traveled to India for the ICC 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. he played his last competitive match against India in the semifinal at the Wankhade Stadium on March 5, where they were eventually knocked out by India. He returned to Punjab in 2023 as the tournament’s most expensive buy at ₹18.5 crore and continued in 2024. However, his price dropped significantly when CSK reacquired him for ₹2.4 crore ahead of IPL 2025, where he managed 114 runs and one wicket in five matches. Curran remains a notable all-rounder, holding the record as the youngest player to claim a hat-trick in IPL history. Across 64 matches, he has scored 997 runs and taken 59 wickets, showcasing his dual impact. His highest score of 88 came in 2025 against his former side PBKS. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will look at internal options, including Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira, to strengthen their all-round department.
