The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to face off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Tuesday, May 26, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. As the defending champions, RCB wrapped up the season at the top of the table, racking up 18 points from 14 matches. They’ve consistently looked like the team to beat, carrying their momentum from their title-winning run in 2025. The Titans, finishing just behind them in second place, also secured 18 points but fell short of the top spot due to net run rate. After a shaky start, they’ve made a strong comeback and ended the league stage as one of the tournament's most formidable teams. The two teams clashed twice during the league stage, just six days apart, with each team claiming a victory. In their first encounter on April 24, the Titans posted an impressive 205/3 in their 20 overs, thanks to a stunning century from Sai Sudharsan at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB, despite losing a few wickets towards the end, chased down the target comfortably, finishing with five wickets to spare, led by a fantastic 81 off 44 balls from Virat Kohli. In the rematch on April 30 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Titans leveled the score. Batting first, RCB struggled and were bowled out for 155, with Arshad Khan taking three wickets and Jason Holder claiming two crucial wickets in the middle overs. The Titans got off to a strong start, with skipper Shubman Gill smashing a quick 43 off just 18 balls. RCB fought back with regular wickets, but it wasn’t enough to prevent GT from securing the win with four wickets in hand.
