The venue for the final of the IPL 2026 has not yet been decided as there is confusion whether the final will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Generally, the venue for the final of the Indian Premier League is the home ground of the defending champions, which in this case are the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, there is a dilemma at the administrative level for the BCCI. As the playoffs have arrived, there is an issue of uncertainty and hence the decision of the venue for the playoffs and the final is yet to be announced. Though Bengaluru is the preferred destination, there are reports suggesting that there may be a change of venue if the dilemma doesn't come to a conclusion. Ticket Issue Creates Problem A report also cited that the dilemma is pertaining to tickets distributed to the MLAs. According to a source the issue is at the verge of a conclusion with an on-going meeting for the same. "IPL 2026 playoffs and final venue will be announced soon. Matches likely to be divided into Punjab and Karnataka, the last time winner should host the final, but MLA ticket issue is creating problems in Bengaluru, and if there is no solution, then bcci will move the final to another city." The issue of the MLA ticket seems to have taken center stage at the deciding venue of the finals. MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar from Congress party had proposed to legislators to distribute 30 tickets to the state assembly. Later Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar claimed that the MLAs and MPs would be given 3 tickets each for the RCB matches, which are non-transferable and meant for themselves or for family members. The political reasons above only led to the complication and delay of a final decision. Final Decision Awaited Given that time is running out to conduct playoffs, BCCI will take decision as soon as possible. If not decided on this issue in Bengaluru then the board might decide to shift the finals from Bengaluru to some other city. As of now Bengaluru is still an option to hold finals but not confirmed by any means and people are expecting it to be finalized.
