Digvesh Rathi, an opening mystery spinner from Delhi, made his debut in the IPL for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 4 of the 2025 season against Delhi Capitals. The 25-year-old got noticed last year greatly by his exploits in the Delhi Premier League (DPL). Rathi took 14 wickets in 10 matches for his local team at an average economy of 7.82. His good performance was enough to get him into the squad of Delhi for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy of 2024/25. He snared three wickets in two one-sided games against Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh at an economy of 2.71 and an average of 6.33. A young prospect, the scouting team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, LSG managed to snatch up this bowlerfor INR 30 lakh at the mega auction of IPL 2025. West Indies' former bowler Sunil Narine has had a quite similar style, cleverly concealing the ball before delivery, making it difficult for almost any batter to decipher his varying deliveries. Quick-arm action adds sharp googlies and carrom balls in his repertoire, adding depth to the LSG bowling arsenal this season. In the sixth over of DC's innings, Rathi bowled a googly which was deceptive and lured Axar into a big shot. The left-hander mistimed the shot, spoiling it for a simple catch to Nicholas Pooran at square leg. In the third over of the second inning, nine runs were given away by Digvesh Rathi while bowling. In the fourth over, Rathi took the wicket of Axar Patel while conceding 13 runs. During the third delivery of the sixth over, Rathi bowled a googly to Axar, who shuffled toward the off side in an attempt to clear the infield on the leg side. However, Axar was unable to middle the shot and found Nicholas Pooran, stationed at square leg. Rathi afterwards celebrated by imitating the signature style of left winger, attacking midfielder, or forward Brazilian soccer great Neymar.
