Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has been fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 20, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gill now joins a growing list of captains penalised for over-rate violations this season. Others include Axar Patel (DC), Sanju Samson (RR), Rajat Patidar (RCB), Rishabh Pant (LSG), Riyan Parag (RR), and Hardik Pandya (MI). In an official release, the IPL stated: "As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Gill was fined INR 12 lakhs." Unlike previous seasons, the IPL 2025 regulations do not enforce suspensions for repeated offences. Instead, captains face escalating fines, demerit points, and in-game penalties such as fielding restrictions for slow-over rates. GT moves to the top of the points table with a strong win over DC Despite the slow over-rate penalty, Gill’s side delivered a dominant performance on the field, defeating Delhi Capitals by seven wickets.
