The first match of the IPL 2025 started with a thrilling match between KKR and RCB at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and opted to bowl on the track, which had been under covers for the past few days. Bowling first, the team led by Rajat Patidar had early success as Josh Hazlewood removed Quinton de Kock early in the very first over. KKR’s new skipper, Ajinkya, came in with a positive mindset and took charge on RCB's bowling lineup. KKR covered really well after the quick wicket of de Kock. Rahane and Sunil Narine played really well to put some momentum in the inning. KKR’s skipper scored 56 in just 31 balls, and Narine contributed with 44 runs in 26 runs. After KKR got momentum back, RCB made a strong comeback in the match as their bowlers did really well after the power play, removing KKR’s crucial batters early. It was Phil Salt who stole the show in the power play as he scored 49 runs, and Kohli also scored 29 runs. Soon Salt completed his half century and got removed by Varun Chakaravarthy. Virat Kohli also completed his half century and had little partnership with Devdutt Padikkal. Soon Narine got Padikkal, who tried to fetch the ball over midwicket but could not clear Ramandeep Singh. Skipper Rajat Patidar came in at number four for RCB and showed a very positive mindset. He took the charge on the bowlers, played a quick-fire inning of 34 in just 16 balls, and turned the match into RCB’s camp. After a thrilling knock, Rajat Patidar was also removed by Vaibhav Arora, but it was too late for KKR, and at the end, RCB won the match with ease with 7 wickets in hand. Virat Kohli remained not out on 59 runs. It was total dominance from RCB against KKR as they won the match with 22 balls to spare. This win will give RCB a different level of confidence going forward into the IPL 2025.
