Royal Challengers Bengaluru have announced Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as the replacement for South Africa’s Lungisani Ngidi for the remainder of IPL 2025. The franchise confirmed the move ahead of their final league fixtures, as Ngidi is set to leave the tournament to join the South African national team. “Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), meanwhile, have picked Blessing Muzarabani as replacement for Lungisani Ngidi, who will leave to join South Africa for national duties. The replacement will be effective from May 26, 2025,” the IPL said in an official release. Muzarabani, 28, has represented Zimbabwe in 70 T20Is and taken 78 wickets. He has also featured in 12 Tests and 55 ODIs for his country. Known for his tall frame and ability to generate bounce, the right-arm pacer will join RCB for a fee of INR 75 lakh. This will be Muzarabani’s first stint in the IPL. Ngidi, who joined RCB this season, featured in only one match, where he picked up 3/30. Ngidi came in as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood against Chennai Super Kings at Bengaluru. Ngidi's spell helped the home side to win by 2 runs against CSK. The Australian pacer has been recovering from a shoulder niggle, but RCB are keeping a close watch on his progress. "He's obviously been managing a shoulder niggle, which he's had for a couple of weeks now. He's still back in Australia and he's still working on his rehab to come back from that shoulder niggle. We don't have any updates right now at the minute, so we're going to have to take that day-by-day,” RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat said before the rained-off clash against KKR. With momentum on their side, RCB will be hoping for Hazlewood’s timely return as they push for a top-two finish and a strong run in the playoffs.
