Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025. The game will be hosted at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. PBKS had an excellent campaign under Shreyas Iyer and topped the table with 9 victories from 14 games. RCB also performed well and won 9 of the 14 matches. Both teams are yet to lift the IPL trophy. This game provides both PBKS and RCB with the opportunity to draw closer to their maiden IPL title. RCB have made it to the final three times, while PBKS (previously known as Kings XI Punjab) made it to the final once, which was in 2014 but were defeated by KKR. The Qualifier 1 winner will proceed directly to the final and both the teams will look to win it and reach the finals directly. What If PBKS vs RCB Gets Washed Out? The two teams will be praying for no rain on the match day. The news here is that rain probabilities are minimal in Chandigarh on the 29th of May. But if it rains a lot and the match gets abandoned, it will be worse for RCB. That's because PBKS ended above them on the points table. There is no reserve day for Qualifier 1, and if the match is cancelled on account of rain, PBKS will proceed to the final directly. They will face each other on 30th May 2025 at Mullanpur. GT had dominated at the top of the table throughout the season. However, they fell short of a second position due to a lower run rate. GT lost their last two matches against CSK and LSG, which added to their woes. Had they won either of those two games, they might have pushed their way alongside PBKS in the second spot. They will also miss the services of Jos Buttler as the English star will not available for the playoffs. MI had a patchy season. They began slowly but improved in the second half of the season and were able to qualify for the playoffs. The Eliminator winner, between GT and MI, will face the loser of the PBKS vs RCB match in Qualifier 2.
