Gujarat Titans are eager to retain Rashid Khan before the IPL 2025 mega-auction, but Mumbai Indians too are equally keen to have this star spinner. It is learned that the team management of the Mumbai Indians has already met Rashid Khan to sign him for their team. One of the biggest matchwinners in the last three IPL seasons, Rashid has picked up 56 wickets in 45 games. He played an instrumental role when Gujarat defeated Rajasthan to win its maiden title in 2022 and then proved decisive as he finished as the joint second-leading wicket-taker in a Titans' runners-up finish in 2023. However, given that the Afghanistan international plays for multiple MI-owned franchises across the globe and shares a good relationship with the owners, there is a slight chance that he might consider shifting base to Mumbai. Still, there's no trade window that Mumbai can use as they did in the case of Hardik Pandya last year. So, they will only be able to bring Rashid into the Indian Premier League by persuading him to come to the auction and then go after him. Still, even then, it is no guarantee since it is nearly every franchise that would break the bank for him. Besides, currently, Mumbai are also keen to retain Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, which will leave them with a largely diluted purse as they would have to spend INR 75 crore at the bare minimum to retain the above-mentioned players.
