The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been meticulously planning this event, and officials have already conducted initial venue checks in Saudi Arabia. While other international cities, including Dubai, Singapore, and Vienna, were considered, Riyadh ultimately emerged as the preferred location for this high-stakes auction. Franchises finalized their retention lists on Thursday, October 31, with a total of 46 players being retained, amounting to INR 558.5 crore in combined salaries. Notably, Indian players dominated the retention lists, with 36 of the retained players being homegrown talent. Broadcasters are notably concerned about the upcoming mega-auction on November 24, as it coincides with the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on November 22. However, a silver lining is the time difference in Australia, which allows the matches to wrap up by early afternoon, leaving room for the auction to take place afterward. Meanwhile, the BCCI is expected to send a second delegation to Saudi Arabia to finalize the event's arrangements. Franchises are eagerly awaiting official details to organize their travel and logistics. The BCCI will officially announce the auction date and timings once all final arrangements are completed.
