Lucknow Super Giants speedster Mayank Yadav has suffered a setback in his recovery, picking up a toe injury while rehabilitating from his back injury. The pacer, who was signed up by LSG last IPL, stunned everyone when he consistently hit 150kph speeds and won multiple Player of the Match awards. However, he has been plagued with injuries since then. Yadav had been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (formerly the National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru. According to LSG head coach Justin Langer, the pacer recently hurt his toe. "Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, was going quite well, and he kicked his toe on the bed and has got an infection in his toe. It's put his rehab back about a week or two weeks," Langer said ahead of LSG's season opener. However, Langer is optimistic that Yadav will be joining the team in the backend of the tournament. "But he's up and running. We regularly see videos of him bowling. I saw a video of his yesterday. So, hopefully by the back end of the tournament, Mayank will be up and ready to go for us," he said. LSG's injury woes Lucknow Super Giants have been hit by multiple injuries ahead of IPL 2025. Four of their pacers, including Mayank Yadav, are currently sidelined. "Unfortunately, Mohsin sustained a small calf injury in his rehab. So, knowing that we had four guys out, we had to make that tough call on Mohsin. We think Avesh Khan will pass his right to play tomorrow morning through the NCA. So, if that's the case, then he'll be back soon," Langer said. Providing a further update on Akash Deep, he added: "Akash Deep is up and running, and bowling at about 90% now. I believe he's done his yo-yo test. So, he's really ticking off all the boxes." LSG will face Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 season opener. The team will be playing under a new captain, Rishabh Pant, who was bought for a whopping INR 27 crore in the mega auction.
