Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is likely to miss Delhi Capitals' first two matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Rahul, who played a key role in India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph, had announced pregnancy in November. Now, with the birth of his child expected soon, Rahul is likely to sit out the initial games of the tournament. Australian skipper Alyssa Healy revealed this during a discussion about Delhi Capitals’ squad while speaking to LisTNR Sport. “No Harry Brook, (so) it will be interesting to see who the replacement player will be. They have KL Rahul, who will probably not play the first couple of games, I think… they are awaiting the birth of (their) child, but that dynamic is cool,” Healy said. He’s going to be exciting to watch,” she added. Rahul’s Move to Delhi Capitals KL Rahul, who captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the previous season, was released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. After a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals secured his services for a staggering INR 12 crore. Reports had earlier suggested that Rahul was offered the captaincy, but he declined it to focus on his batting. As a result, Delhi Capitals appointed Axar Patel as their new skipper. Axar, who has previously led Gujarat in domestic tournaments, will have a big responsibility on his shoulders, especially in the absence of an experienced player like Rahul.
