Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal said on Wednesday that Rishabh Pant would stay with the team as captain for the IPL 2025 auction. Jindal even mentioned that DC has several talented players they want to keep, but the final decision will be made after talking with Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly. DC ended the previous season in sixth position, thereby missing play-off qualification. However, their young guns, Abishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs, and Jake Fraser-McGurk, are just too good to be ignored. Talking to the media recently, Jindal hinted at possible player retentions but made it clear that only Rishabh Pant's spot is confirmed, with no other decisions yet taken regarding the rest. Parth Jindal told IANS in an interview. "Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made," "Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained. We also have Axar Patel, who is excellent, Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, all very good players in our team," The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) created new rules to focus on Indian players. These rules are expected to support young Indian players competing for a spot in the IPL teams' playing XI. After discussions, we will proceed with the auction and see what happens," IPL teams are allowed to retain a maximum of 6 players from their existing list either via retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) option. And every team is free to decide how to use these options. The 6 retentions / RTM’s can have a maximum of 5 capped players (Indian & Overseas) and a maximum of 2 uncapped players as well.
