Ravichandran Ashwin’s popular YouTube channel, known for its cricket analysis and insights, has announced that it will no longer cover Chennai Super Kings (CSK) matches for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. The decision was confirmed by the channel admin on Monday, April 7, following backlash over a controversial comment made on CSK's powerplay and line-up in the recent video. In the video, cricket analyst and former South Africa performance coach Prasanna Agoram suggested that CSK should drop Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad in favor of an extra batter. Prasanna reasoned that with Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin in the side, the team could drop the overseas spinner and bring in an additional batter to strengthen the line-up. The idea of sidelining the in-form bowler triggered criticism on social media, with many calling the comment unfair and biased, considering the review featured in Ashwin's YouTube Channel. Ashwin's YouTube channel admin releases statement amid controversy Amid growing controversy, on Monday, the Channel's admin issued a statement clarifying that Prasanna’s views were entirely his own and did not reflect Ashwin’s personal opinions or stance on the matter. “Given the nature of the discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season,” read the official statement. The statement further added: “We value the diversity of perspectives that come through on our shows and remain committed to ensuring the conversation stays true to the integrity and purpose of the platform we've established. The views expressed by our guests do not reflect Ashwin's personal opinions." The CSK cricketer Ashwin is yet to make a comment regarding the issue. Meanwhile, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming was asked about the controversy during the post-match conference recently. Fleming replied that he had no idea that Ashwin had a YouTube channel. "I didn't even know he [Ashwin] had a channel, so I don't follow that stuff. That's irrelevant," he said. Chennai Super Kings, who have won one match out of their four appearances, find themselves in the 9th spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
