Canada men's team captain Nicolas Kirton has reportedly been taken into police custody in Barbados over a drug-related issue. Kirton, who made Canada international debut in 2019, was detained on Sunday upon his arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport. According to reports from the Jamaica Gleaner, the cricketer is currently in police custody as he assists officers with an investigation related to drug charges. The report states that the case involves the possession of approximately 20 pounds of cannabis, commonly known as marijuana. It is important to note that while Canada has decriminalized the personal possession of small amounts of hard drugs since 2023, the legal framework in Barbados is stricter.
