On Day 1 during the third Test between the West Indies and Australia at Kingston, the Australian star pacer Mitchell Starc broke the stump in style as he delivered a beautiful inswinger to Kelvon Anderson, who swung his bat in an absolutely wrong direction. It happened while West Indies came to bat, and in the 5th over, Kelvon sacrificed his wicket for just three runs. On being dismissed, Anderson stood there baffled before walking out. However, the third Test started nicely. The young Sam Konstas (17 off 53) and the senior Usman Khawaja (23 off 92) were gritty enough at the start. Thereafter, Cameron Green added 46 of 108 balls, and Steve Smith added 48 runs in a bit quicker strike rate. Australia was happy and healthy till 129 runs, losing just two wickets. And then the disaster started at the Sabina Park! Australia lost 7 wickets for 68 runs and got bowled out for 225 runs within 71 overs. Kudos to the West Indies’ pace trio—Jayden Seales (3), Shamar Joseph (4), and Justin Greaves (3)—took all ten wickets. Well, Australia was bold, decided to drop Nathan Lyon for the first time since 2013. But it backfired as the all-seam strategy struggled in the twilight session. West Indies, despite injury setbacks—losing Alzarri Joseph, Mikyle Louis, and John Campbell—roared back into the game. Shamar Joseph and Seales ripped through the middle order, while substitute Anderson Phillip pulled off a flying screamer to dismiss Travis Head. Mitchell Starc, in his 100th Test, responded with the ball by removing debutant Kevlon Anderson early in West Indies’ reply. Brandon King and Roston Chase, however, survived a tough 45 minutes under lights, ending the day at 13 for 1.
