Speaking after the final match, Gambhir stated that while Pant would get opportunities in the future, Rahul had performed well, making him the preferred choice. During the series, Rahul batted at No.6, a position where some former cricketers believe Pant’s explosive batting could be more effective. However, Gambhir emphasized that the team management prioritizes performance over statistics and will keep the batting order flexible. He refrained from assigning a fixed batting slot to Rahul, highlighting the importance of adaptability in different match situations. Gambhir’s statements suggest that Pant remains in contention for a spot but will have to wait for his chance, as the team backs Rahul’s current form and contributions.
