After a two-day break, the India team resumed their practice session at the ICC Academy in Dubai; however, Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill have reportedly missed the latest practice session. Rohit, however, attended the practice session for around three years, while Shubman was not in sight. Sharma is reportedly recovering from hamstring discomfort while Gill is suffering from a bout of illness. During India's match against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma was spotted holding his knees and briefly left the field due to discomfort while fielding. However, he later returned to open the inning and contributed a quick 20 runs off 15 balls. As per a report by Cricbuzz, considering his injury concerns, Rohit attended India's three-hour practice session under the lights at the ICC Academy but did not participate in any drills. The report said, "It wouldn't be surprising if Rohit takes it easy for the New Zealand game, considering it is a largely inconsequential contest, with both teams already having booked their spots in the semifinals." India will play New Zealand on March 2, yet has a long time left. But if both Gill and Ro keep it easy, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli might be asked to open against the Kiwis. In that case, the lefty Rishabh Pant might get a chance. In a positive development, India's bowling coach Morne Morkel and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant have rejoined the squad. As per a Times of India report, Morkel had returned home for personal reasons following the match against Bangladesh, while Pant missed training and the Pakistan game due to a viral fever. Their return strengthens the team as they prepare for the crucial knockout stage. Despite being in the squad, Pant has not yet featured in India's playing XI, with KL Rahul handling wicketkeeping duties. With back-to-back wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan, India looks confident as they head into the semifinal on March 4, aiming to continue their dominant run in the tournament.
