In a historic turn of events, Indonesian pacer Gede Priandana has printed his name in the cricketing history books by taking five wickets in a single over of the T20I match against Cambodia. This feat happened during the first T20I match between Cambodia and Indonesia of the eight-match series in Bali on Tuesday, December 23. This historic feat also made Priandana the first player (man or woman) to do it in international cricket. During their target defence of 168 runs, Indonesia seemed in full control of the match, but Cambodia were going strong at one point. The bowling spell of Gede Priandana dramatically reversed the match scenario and sealed the match in the same over, taking the limelight in the cricket fraternity. Priandana started his over with a hat-trick by dismissing Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthoeun Rathanak on his first three deliveries. The 28-year-old pacer then removed Mongdara Sok and Pel Vennak to seal the match, completing his five-wicket haul in just a single over. As this was a rare feat happening in international cricket, two similar incidents have already happened in men’s T20 cricket. Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hossain achieved it in the Victory Day T20 Cup during the 2013-14 season, while Karnataka’s Abhimanyu Mithun has done so in the semi-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2019-20.
