A packed international schedule for India continues as they are set to visit Sri Lanka in August for a two-match Test series. It is also being reported that a three-match T20I series may be added to the itinerary. According to Cricbuzz, the first Test is scheduled to begin on August 15 in Galle while the second Test will be played on August 23. The second Test match is set to be held at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), although the location is yet to be officially confirmed. The series will count towards the ongoing World Test Championship cycle as India strive to earn a place in the WTC final. India's First Test Tour of Sri Lanka Since 2017 The upcoming series will mark India's first Test tour of Sri Lanka since 2017. India's last Test series visit to the island nation came back in 2017 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. On that occasion, India were runaway winners of the series, completing a whitewash of the hosts with a 3-0 margin. Several players from that series are no longer a part of India's national team either due to retirement or being out of contention. KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are among the players that are still active on the international scene and could feature in the tour. The return to Sri Lanka will present another test for India as they look to continue building momentum in the World Test Championship. If the plan is approved, the three-match T20I series will be held after the completion of the Test matches. With Sri Lanka's Lanka Premier League concluding on August 9, time would be very limited to play T20s before the Tests begin. India's Test series visit to Sri Lanka would follow closely on the heels of a three-match T20I series tour to Zimbabwe, making it a busy period in what promises to be a hectic season for the Men in Blue. Overall, India are slated to play more than 60 international matches between now and February 2027. The schedule is packed and includes series' against Afghanistan, Ireland, England, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand and Australia as well as participation in the 2026 Asian Games which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya. With World Test Championship points at stake as well as the possibility of playing three more T20 internationals, India's visit to Sri Lanka will be an important fixture on a demanding itinerary.
