Bharat Arun, who famously shaped India’s modern pace revolution under Ravi Shastri’s tenure, is set for a new chapter in the IPL. As per a report from Cricbuzz dated July 30, the former national bowling coach has ended his four-year run with Kolkata Knight Riders and has joined Lucknow Super Giants. Arun, known for his clarity in technical guidance and injury management, will now work under head coach Justin Langer in the LSG camp. The switch marks a key addition to LSG’s evolving support staff, which already includes Zaheer Khan in a mentorship role. Arun’s focus is expected to revolve around bolstering the domestic pace line-up—something LSG has struggled to establish due to recurring injuries. Talents like Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Akash Deep have shown promise but have been inconsistent, largely due to fitness setbacks. Though the franchise’s pace hopes Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi failed to maintain fitness, Arun was instrumental in grooming fresh names like Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora. Under his watch, KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title, with Mitchell Starc and Rana making the difference in the bowling attack. However, KKR’s campaign in 2025 ended on a sour note. The side finished 8th on the table with only 5 wins in 14 matches. Their auction tactics came under criticism, and results did little to support their plans. On July 29, KKR also announced the exit of head coach Chandrakant Pandit, hinting at a wider shake-up within the setup. Arun’s departure, though not officially confirmed by the franchise yet, further adds to the changing landscape at KKR.
