The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper Konas Srikar Bharat is all set to play the 2025 Surrey Championship under the flag of the London-based Dulwich Cricket Club. KS Bharat, who became a key keeper in Rishabh Pant's absence, has been overlooked for a long time, having received multiple keeping options in the team. However, having the new door opened, Bharat will try to capitalize on his chances at the best. Newly promoted to the Premier Division, Dulwich is counting on KS Bharat to deliver an immediate impact on the field. KS Bharat donned the Indian Test jersey in 7 matches, including the one against Australia in the World Test Championship, where he scored 5 and 23 runs in each innings respectively. In the 7 Tests, he accumulated 221 runs with an average of about 20, and the highest run counts 44. Speaking of franchise cricket, he played for RCB and the Delhi Capitals. However, he didn't play any matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders, despite being a part of the squad. For RCB, he played 8 games as a top-order batter and bagged 191 runs with a strike rate of 122.43. However, for DC, he played only two matches scoring just 8 runs in them. Announcing Bharat's arrival, Dulwich Cricket Cub considered Bharat their biggest winter signing. The wrote: "Congratulations to KS Bharat on signing with @dulwichcc for the 2025 @surreychamp campaign. The keeper & top-order batter has played 7 Tests for India, including against England in 2024 and Australia in the World Test Championship final in 2023. He has featured in multiple IPL franchises, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, as well as captaining his state side in first-class cricket in India. Fresh off their promotion to the Premier Division, Dulwich will be looking to KS Bharat to make an immediate impact on the field. Beyond his performances, the club will benefit immensely from his priceless knowledge and experience, which will undoubtedly inspire players across the whole Club. The biggest signing of the winter? We think it’s right up there! While he showed glimpses of his skills, his batting struggled, particularly against pacers and Nathan Lyon, leading to his exclusion from the squad. Bharat first made headlines in 2015 when he became the first wicketkeeper-batsman to score a triple-century in the Ranji Trophy. Over the years, he has built an impressive first-class record, amassing 5,686 runs in 105 matches, including 10 centuries and 32 half-centuries. After his drop from the national side, Bharat returned to domestic cricket to refine his batting. His hard work paid off, as he delivered notable performances for India ‘A’ against the England Lions in Ahmedabad, scoring 64, 15, and an unbeaten 116. However, Bharat’s path back to the Indian Test squad remains uncertain. With Rishabh Pant regaining fitness and Dhruv Jurel emerging as a strong contender, his opportunities seem limited. A strong stint with Dulwich, followed by consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy, could be crucial in reviving his Test career.
