With the Asia Cup 2025 to commence on September 9 in the UAE, the Indian cricket team will leave no stone unturned for preparation. The Men in Blue will apparently be training in a fitness and training camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru before departing for the tournament. Importantly, before the Asia Cup 2023, India had arranged a two-week conditioning camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to hone their fitness and skills before the tournament. The Asia Cup will be contested from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. India, meanwhile, are grouped in Group A with Pakistan, Oman, and UAE, their hosts. Their journey starts on September 10 against the UAE, before facing the highly-anticipated match against Pakistan on September 14. Prior to the announcement of the squad, some players like Ishan Kishan, Riyan Parag, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer had turned up at the CoE for fitness tests. India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who recently underwent a sports hernia surgery, also passed his fitness test at the complex. These solo check-ins will progress into a full-squad preparation camp. Read also: Why was Shreyas Iyer not selected in 2025 Asia Cup squad? The Asia Cup will be followed by a white-ball series against Australia, another task against South Africa, and then the build-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup. Interestingly, the senior men's choice committee declared a 15-man team for the tournament on Tuesday. The team includes Suryakumar Yadav donning the captain's hat and Shubman Gill to act as his deputy. The team has a combination of youth and veteran players who will be tasked with defending the title.
