Indian Sponsor EasyMyTrip has pulled out of the 2025 World Championship of Legends right after the India Champions defeated the West Indian Champions and reached the semifinal. The semifinal scheduled on July 31st will see India playing against Pakistan Champions, while the second semifinal is between Australia Champions and South Africa Champions on the same date. EasyMyTrip founder Nishant Pitti announced his withdrawal on his X handle, saying sports and terror can't go hand in hand. And it is not possible for him to keep continuing with a tournament that tries to normalise this issue. Taking the X handle, he wrote, “We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends, you’ve made the nation proud. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game. Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand. EaseMyTrip, we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism. The people of India have spoken and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first, business later. Always. Dhawan had previously informed the WCL authorities via email that he would not participate in matches against Pakistan due to political tensions. During India’s group match against England, a fan asked Dhawan if he would play a potential semifinal against Pakistan. Dhawan firmly replied, “If I didn’t play earlier, I still won’t.” India later sealed a semifinal berth by defeating West Indies, chasing 145 in just 13.2 overs, with Stuart Binny’s explosive 50* leading the charge.
