The BCCI, on Thursday, announced India women's squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand women. Harmanpreet Kaur will continue as the captain, and the team includes four uncapped players. Pooja Vastrakar and Asha Sobhana are not a part of the squad. Young wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh will sit out the series due to her 12th standard board exams, while Vastrakar was rested. Both the players were part of Indian Team for ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, which could not reach the semis. The series could also see some new faces get their first international appearances for India, such as Tejal Hasabnis, Saima Thakor, Priya Mishra, and Sayali Satgare. Wicketkeeper Uma Chetry and allrounder Arundhati Reddy would also make their ODI debut. India will play New Zealand in three ODIs, that begin on October 24 in Ahmedabad. It would be a redemption series for the team after having been thrashed by New Zealand and sent home from the T20 World Cup early. Senior players will look forward to forgetting the disappointment from the T20 World Cup as they go on to deliver a good show in the ODI series. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will also have some responsibility on her shoulders.
