Team India will start their international season with a home series of two-match Test Cricket against Bangladesh, starting from September 19. India will be coming after a rare break and will face Bangladesh, with whom they have played eight series of Test cricket so far. India have won seven, while one ended in a draw. Bangladesh is yet to beat India in Test matches, but fresh from their victory in Pakistan, they will be hoping to put up a strong fight. Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of team India believes that Bangladesh will give a tough fight to India, but Rohit Sharma's team will win the series. During an event, Ganguly said: "Going to Pakistan and beating them is never easy, so congratulations to the (Bangladesh) players. But India will be a different kettle of fish; India, whether at home or away, are a fantastic side with a very strong batting unit." This will be Bangladesh's third Test series in India. They lost 0-1 there in 2016-17, and 0-2 in 2019-20. Ganguly believes India will keep their winning record intact but admits that the Bangladesh team under Najmul Hossain Shanto will come out fighting. Ganguly said: "I don’t see Bangladesh winning; India will win the series. But India must expect good and tough cricket from Bangladesh because they are coming into the series with a lot of confidence after beating Pakistan in Pakistan." Regular Indian players including Jasprit Bumrah, who makes a comeback to international cricket after a very long break, will turn out for the series. The last time Bumrah played, in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which India won by beating South Africa in the final. Rishabh Pant returns to Test cricket after recovering from a car accident that kept him out of action for more than a year. The two matches form part of the ICC World Test Championship, with India at the head of that table. Bangladesh moves into fourth place with its victory against Pakistan.
